Criteria for admission to B. Ed
class .
The centralized admission committee
notified by the Punjab Govt. lays rules and regulations for the Joint
Entrance Test and admission to the B. Ed. Course . Joint Entrance Test
conducted by one of the three universities (for two years on a rotation
basis ) falling in Punjab State i.e .
- Punjab University ,Chandigarh .
- Guru Nanak Dev University ,Amritsar .
- Punjabi University ,Patiala.
In 2006 this test was conducted by Punja
University ,Chandigarh in the month of June . Thus admission to B.Ed class
is done through centralized system ,after the state level entrance level .
Core Curriculum .
B.Ed : Every year 100 students are
admitted to the B.Ed course . This course is comprised of two parts .
Parts I –Theory papers
Parts II- Practical
The syllabus of each part is prescribed
by the Board of Studies from time to time . At present through General
Professional course ,related to theory papers ,the knowledge of
Philosophical and Sociological basis of Education . Learner’s nature and his
development ,Components of teaching –learning process ,School management
,Computer Education ,Guidance and counseling .
To complement the theoretical aspect of
teaching methods ,the students are given teaching practice for 30 days which
is divided into two block during the session they go to teach in the schools
,they observe demonstration lesson given by teacher educators ,study the
lesson plans ,prepare model lesson plans.
The syllabus as prescribed by Punjab
University is unit wise implemented in the college teaching schedule
throughout the year . Efforts are made to fulfill the general and specific
aims suggested by the subjects experts while framing the subject syllabus in
addition to Lecture method ,a number of activities are conducted
,seminars are arranged and projects are assigned according the nature of
the subject taught .
